Studies in psychology and relationship science suggest that highly intelligent men often struggle more in the dating market. Why? Higher cognitive ability is linked to overthinking, social selectivity, introversion, delayed relationship timing, and lower tolerance for superficial connections. In other words, the smarter the man, the narrower the emotional and intellectual pool he’s willing to accept.
Historically, marriage used to be driven by proximity and necessity. Today, dating is driven by compatibility, emotional intelligence, lifestyle alignment, and social skills areas where high IQ doesn’t always translate to high romantic success.
Research has also found that men with very high cognitive scores are more likely to marry later, stay single longer, and report difficulty finding partners who match their mental and conversational depth.
