Irish Teacher Enoch Burke Arrested Again in Ongoing Court Order Dispute

Irish teacher Enoch Burke has been arrested again, just days after his most recent release, bringing his total time in prison to 560 days. His repeated imprisonment stems from refusing to comply with court orders requiring him to use the pronoun “they” when addressing a male student.

The dispute began at Wilson’s Hospital School in County Westmeath, where Burke was initially suspended and later dismissed. Despite multiple injunctions forbidding him from entering the school, he continued to show up on campus, resulting in repeated arrests. Burke’s case has sparked widespread attention and debate over freedom of speech, religious beliefs and rights in the classroom, highlighting tensions between personal convictions and legal obligations.
